On Mondays, the targets from the corporate prayer gathering on Saturday at 9a will be posted here. Here are this past weekend’s targets:

“Living Sacrifices”
Disciples of Sacrifice
“Then he told his disciples, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me’†(Matt. 16.24)
-Freedom from the world’s worship of self (“self-improvement,†“self-esteem,†etc.)
-Committed to crucifying our pride daily
-Longing to see Christ’s mission extended – at whatever cost to us
-Welcoming settings of “He must increase, but I must decrease†(John 3.30)
-Released from the idols of comfort and ease
Self-Sacrifice in the Home
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his [family]†(John 15.13)
-Husbands to love their wives “as Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her†(Eph. 5.25)
-Wives to find fulfillment in joyful submission to their husbands
-Parents (particularly fathers) to disciple their children – even when it is resisted
-Children to honor their parents with obedience and love
-Singles to plan ways to support their family and the families in the church
Self-Sacrifice in the Church
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers†(1 John 3.16)
-Seeking out and eagerly embracing opportunities to serve
-Coming with hearts for the “spiritual worship†of presenting our bodies (Rom. 12.1)
-Generous giving that declares, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord†(Phil. 3.8)
-Spirit of love to mark our relationships – bearing one another’s burdens through serving, prayer and intercession, and words of encouragement from the Scriptures
