On Mondays, the targets from the corporate prayer gathering on Saturday at 9a will be posted here. Here are this past weekend’s targets:

“Praying for Everyone”
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.†(1 Timothy 2.1-4).
Intercessory Community (v. 1)
-Intercessory prayer to be an essential component of our lives
-Valuing corporate & personal prayer and avoiding its neglect
-Prayers that are not simply self-focused but Kingdom-minded and Gospel-centered
-Supporting others through prayer and bearing their burdens (Gal. 6.2)
“…be made for all people…†(v. 1)
-Homeless & neglected in the city to find rest in Jesus Christ (Matt. 11.28)
-Missionaries in foreign countries to rejoice in tribulation (James 1.1-4)
-New Orleans executives & businessmen to treasure Jesus Christ as precious (1 Peter 2.4)
– “All of the saints†(Eph. 6.18) to be guarded from the enemy, preserved in doctrinal purity, and matured into Christ’s image for God’s glory

-Local Government
…Purging the injustice and greed long associated with New Orleans government
…Wisdom to continue discerning the road ahead for New Orleans
-2008 Presidential Election
“…the Most high rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom He will and sets over it the lowliest of men†(Dan. 4.17)
-Legislature that reflects aspects of a Biblical worldview
…Protecting the sanctity of life – loving our unborn neighbors (Mark 12.31)
…Defending the Biblical definition of the family
